Mediation
Mediation is an alternative process for settling disputes through managed conversations with both parties in the dispute. Conversations start by:
- Outlining the mediation process with both parties present.
- Individual conversations with each party to gain and understanding of the issues which are the subject of the dispute and potential options for moving towards a solution
- Possible joint meetings of both parties, to discuss key issues or potential solutions. Joint meetings only ever happen with the consent of both parties and with a clear understanding of the parameters for discussion.
I help the participants to reach a solution that they are happy with, which is then drawn up into a written agreement to be signed by both parties.
Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process where people involved in the dispute are helped by the intervention of a neutral third party (the mediator) to resolve their problems collaboratively.
As a mediator I never takes sides or impose a solution.
